LCS440 - Art Exhibition Project

I don't get to say this a lot, but this project is one out of many that I was a part of that I allows me to say I am proud of my academic achievements. This was me and my group's REDAY 2022 Project for my LCS440: Arts and Entertainment: Issues in Arts Administration class.

The group came about a little half way through the semester. We were chosen as the only students who want to be a part of an original-topic exhibition. The idea we came about were to look at and explore the intersection of art and business. The first poster on the left here was the poster that was designed by me, as the main image for the exhibition. There's an idea behind this poster: As you can see, the color of background as well as the font are very solid and it's rather dull. However, they were also very masculine and strong. These colors were chosen by me to represent the world of business. Going to a business school, these are the colors that I've seen on a daily basis. Therefore, when the time came for the opportunity to use these colors, I could not resists.

Using dull color on a marketing material, nevertheless, is never a good way to go. To add some 'pop' to the poster, I used Andy Warhol's Marilyn Diptych, which were Warhol's silkscreen paintings of Marilyn Monroe. The decision to go with Warhol's artwork was also because one of the section that were presented in the exhibition were about Andy Warhol's Converse Collection.

Each member was assigned a different section and for me, it was the automotive industry. I've decided to look into the intersection of manga and the Japanese car industry.

Upon my findings, I've discovered that manga and cars were not uncommon. As a matter of fact, it has been famous for many years. Shown aside (2nd poster downwards) are some of the example that I had designed for the exhibition to show such collaborations.
